IPL 2020: Best Possible Playing XI of KKR

Before the Auction

KKR has been suffering downfall in terms of their team performance. Ever since the departure of Gautam Gambhir, something just doesn’t seem to fit in. In 2018, they somehow managed to make it to top 4 despite receiving a lot of criticism about lack of depth in squad, however, they failed to reach playoffs in the 2019 season. The only reason was due to the over-dependency on Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Their batting lineup was solely dependent on Russell and Nitish Rana. So, they had a lot to fix in the auction as their bowling was also not alluring and consequently they appointed Brendon MCcullum, former KKR player, as their head coach to summon a squad that can compete for the title.

After the Auction

And so did he managed to add valuable players in the squad. The most expensive player of this year’s auction, Pat Cummins, was roped in by KKR at a whopping price of 15.5 cr outbidding RCB at the last stage. He is one of the best all-format bowler in the world currently. Alongside him, they roped in the world-cup winning captain Eoin Morgan to bring experience in the middle order and also to provide leadership qualities. Some other exciting buys were of England’s sensational opener, Tom Banton, Chris Green and Rahul Tripathi.

Playing XI

To come up with a playing XI with this kind of a squad is quite a bit of task as they have a fierce bit of competition between players. Anyway, this might be the best lineup they can show up with in the field:

  1. Shubman Gill
  2. Rahul Tripathi
  3. Nitish Rana
  4. Eoin Morgan
  5. Dinesh Karthik (C & WK)
  6. Andre Russell
  7. Kamlesh Nagarkoti/Shivam Mavi
  8. Sunil Narine
  9. Pat Cummins
  10. Prasidh Krishna
  11. Kuldeep Yadav/ Varun Chakravarthy

Analysis of Playing XI

They possess a solid indian batting core (Rana,Gill,Tripathi and DK) coupled with world-class overseas players(Russell,Narine,Cummins & Morgan). One major loop in thier squad last season was they lacked bowlers who could bowl in death and this time around they tried to cover that up with the inclusion of Cummins and if Nagarkoti is fit then he might be the X-factor that KKR needs. Kuldeep Yadav form was a concern so Varun Chakravarthy has been bought as his backup. Thus, they have a formidable bowling lineup.

KKR fans will be eagerly waiting for the IPL since they have got a team that could help them win the 3rd IPL title and include their name in “Successful teams of IPL” alongwith CSK and MI. And at last…..Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re!
