Decoding the World Cup Final Team: New Zealand

New Zealand had a dream start to the season as they had 5 straight wins with a draw in the middle against India. After that they were beaten by Pakistan and their losing streak continued. Among the top 4, India, Australia and England were favorites to lift the cup and everyone thought new Zealand will be eliminated considering their form in the later half of the season.

But Surprise! Surprise! They defeated the most competitive team India as they did the same thing in Warm Up match against India. They created havoc for the Indian Batsmen. Sadly, this world Cup wasn’t Virat’s World Cup. Nonetheless, New Zealand played in outstanding manner. They didn’t give hope with kinda low total. Furthermore, Trent boult and Matt henry broke every Indian fan’s heart by picking wickets after wickets. India was slaughtered in the World Cup even though they had the potential of lifting title.

Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson has been the consistent run scorer for New Zealand but their openers are not giving a good start which is a worry. In bowling, Boult, Henry, Santner and Neesham have been very effective. With the calm head as a captain, Kane has managed to take this underdog team into the finals.

The path ahead is scary. They will be facing the England who had a dramatic journey to the finals. However, we should never underestimate NZ. They can win any team with their composure and cricketing tactics. They certainly don’t pose a threat to Strongest England team but they mustn’t be taken lightly otherwise they will just take victory away from you just like against India. Will they be able to lift the title for the first time? Let’s see if they create a history or become a history.

Who are you rooting for and who us your best player in the tournament so far?
